Academic year 2021/2022
Educational activities for academic year 2021/2022
Ten years of cinema with the Educational Department
“Films are never produced by an individual, they are collective works with a social influence where past and present are continuously intertwined wherein hide the habits, ways of thinking and imagination of a society.”
The Educational Department of Cinecittà Shows Off, the permanent exhibition display at Cinecittà, was established in 2011 with the intent of engaging a wide range of target audiences in a voyage of discovery into the history of cinema and of the Studios on via Tuscolana through a continuative programme of education, research and communication.
Ten years have gone by since the launch of our journey into the magic of movies and the spell of the cinematic eye: every year, thousands of students of all ages, from Italy and abroad, have the opportunity to explore and experiment with the languages of cinema with our broad didactic offer which is aligned with school programmes and the guidelines created by MIUR (Ministry of University and Research) and MiC (Ministry of Culture) to encourage and promote the knowledge of cinema in the younger generations.
The didactic programme for the 2021/22 academic year focuses on the cinematic, historical and architectural heritage of Cinecittà with a broad, structured offer articulated in: workshop activities, to discover and try out industry professions and the various phases of filmmaking; interactive tours, to participate in and experiment with cinematic storytelling; guided and themed tours, to learn about the heritage of Cinecittà and the movie productions that made the Studios famous worldwide; and cinema days, to provide further knowledge of film-making techniques and styles and ensure a 360° educational experience.
All educational projects are also available in English and French. Special activities can be customized – with prior request – for preschoolers or visually and/or hearing impaired visitors.
Cinecittà’s educational offer has been embellished with the addition of two new routes at MIAC – Italian Museum of Moving Images which located in the Studios’ former Print and Development Lab and is the first multimedia, interactive and immersive museum dedicated entirely to movies in the Capital.
THIS IS MIAC – ITALIAN MUSEUM OF MOVING IMAGES
