Educational activities for academic year 2019-2020

Federico Fellini and Cinecittà

“Every day I walk into Cinecittà with the same strange feeling of happiness that I experienced when I would hide behind cinema curtains. With that same feeling .. as I stroll the paths of Cinecittà after stopping at the bar, after chatting with sleepy electricians, I go into my natural state, a more child-like one. I put the key in the lock and there I am, in the heart of New York, Calcutta, Ostia, Paris, Rimini and, if I want, Mars, Salt Lake, the Sahara Desert too.”
[Federico Fellini]

The Educational Department of “Cinecittà Shows Off”, the permanent exhibition created by Istituto Luce Cinecittà, was established in 2011 with the aim of attracting audiences from all walks of life to introduce the history of Cinecittà and filmmaking through a continuously evolving project of education, research and communication.

The educational programme for the 2019/2020 academic year is dedicated to “Federico Fellini and Cinecittà” and features themed tours for school groups from pre-school to high school that introduce students to the persona and imagination of the great director, born 100 years ago in his beloved Rimini, who identified Cinecittà as the ideal place to live and produce dreams. To mark the centenary of the Maestro’s birth, the Educational Department of “Cinecittà Shows Off” presents “FEDERICO FELLINI 100!”, a programme of guided and interactive tours, workshops and themed exhibition routes focussing on the director.

All educational projects are also available in English and French. Special activities can be customized – with prior request – for preschoolers or visually and/or hearing impaired visitors.

The broad and articulated educational offer is characterized by workshop activities that offer the opportunity to learn and experiment the various steps in making a film and professions in cinema; interactive visits to discover cinema fiction close-up; and themed and guided tours to learn about the heritage of Cinecittà and the filmography that made the studios famous worldwide.
