The set was created in 2002 for the shoot of the Italian miniseries Francesco, produced by Pietro Valsecchi’s Taodue Film, with director Michele Soavi. This fiction narrates the life of Francis of Assisi, interpreted by Raoul Bova.
The set has often been adapted for new shoots. In 2010 a number of changes occurred, including the Church façade that was modified to accommodate a 15th century Tuscan village for the movie Amici miei - Come tutto ebbe inizio, directed by Neri Parenti, a prequel of Mario Monicelli’s famous Amici miei.
In 2012 part of the set was re-designed to resemble Verona for the shoot of Romeo and Juliet (2013), a US production directed by Carlo Carlei and starring Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti and Hailee Steinfeld.
Recently the set was equipped for the shoot of the Infostrada commercial played by Fiorello.
